The Process

 I am an Impressionist/Abstract Canadian Artist.  I take my inspiration from nature, people and music. I am self taught and like to keep it that way. I prefer to discover technique through my own intuition, and believe creative learning should be largely natural. Since childhood, I have spent many hours of consistent work and honing of skills it took to make these pieces. It was during that process that I learned over half of any creative battle takes place in the mind. As a child I would sketch and try to capture reality, but as an adult painting, I try and reinvent it. You may notice it in my flowers where I only meet viewers half way with the designs. And that is because I believe most everything is all perception. So I leave it to the person to see the rest, to become part of the piece themselves. For me in my life, the best art is one that transforms.

I love building worlds and narratives throughout my work as well. I am a child of the 80s, after all. And although I only recently took up Acrylic painting and Ink, it's the same process I learned as a kid, drawing for all those hours. One must sit with the piece for as long as is required. Also that it can be a battle staying creative. There are many times where I had to fight for my Art to exist. To be honest, it happens to this day. It's such an incredible journey.
